Project Overview

PiggyBank is a financial literacy tool built during a hackathon to help children understand the value of saving. While many people want to save, they often struggle to visualize how small deposits grow over time. PiggyBank bridges this gap by transforming complex financial calculations into a simple, visual goal-tracker that encourages consistent saving habits.

Our Approach

We focused on the "Fear of Finance" that stops beginners from starting.

• Simplification: We stripped away the complex banking jargon and spreadsheets. Instead of showing raw data, we focused on "Goals" (e.g., buying a laptop, travel).

• Visual Motivation: We utilized a progress-based UI that rewards users for inputting their data, giving immediate visual feedback on how close they are to their target.

• Hackathon MVP Strategy: We prioritized building a functional core calculation engine first, ensuring the math was accurate before layering on the gamified design.

Key Features

Smart Deposit Calculator: A custom-built engine that allows users to input their principal and interest rate to instantly see their future returns without needing a spreadsheet.

• Goal Visualization: Users can set a specific financial target, and the app visually calculates the "Time to Goal" based on their current saving rate.

• Interactive Simulation: A "What If" scenario builder where users can adjust their monthly contribution slider to see how much faster they can reach their dreams.
